Sitting in Detroit Airport…
Last night melted into this morning, as we woke up to our alarm clock.
Everything was packed & ready so getting out the door was uneventful, which is good.
We got on the highway (for the 45 minute trip to the airport) at:
Park & lock the car…check.
Check-in took way too long at the Delta Counter as the agent kept saying that there might be a problem with Ashley’s visa number(!) which was really her typing error finally figured out after about 1/2 hour, but we made it. Through security with no issues, as well. Just had time for a cup of coffee – at least that what the receipt said it was… Boarded, Flew (with Ashley upping the number of children that we needed to adopt to 20 including at least 4 babies and that we would just pick them up when we were there 😳) and then we de-planed. As Aunt Rita would recall, this year’s first leg can’t even come close to our first flight on Ryan’s trip! http://makethisplacehishome.net/2015/05/14/day-1-is-in-the-books-arrived-in-beijing/
Now we’re hunkered down at Gate A50 winding down a 7 hour layover. To kill time, we had a snack, played a little DS, rode the A-Terminal Train for a bit, checked out the Light Tunnel between the Terminals on our way to finding a radically over-advertised (and underutilized) kids play area. (Pics are a bit out of order…) Just before coming to the gate we lunched at Chili’s. It was very mediocre.
Excitement and enthusiasm are yielding to fatigue for the kiddos. Once we get on the plane, kids will almost certainly pass out. We’re just hoping they pass out before we do!!
Almost forgot the side trip to Dylan’s Candy Shop (he’s keeping the bag!!!) right here in Terminal A.
We’ll check in after the flight – they just announced pre-boarding.
Current in-flight time shows 14 hrs., 20 minutes. Yay.
